2月16日，美國航空航天局(NASA)公布太陽釋放耀斑的圖片。

　　太陽耀斑近日大規模爆發、其產生的高能粒子流即將接近地球的消息,迅速引起了天文愛好者和相關部門的警覺。更有人將這次耀斑大爆發與地球將于2012年毀滅的種種“預言”聯係在一起。

　　科學家指出,太陽耀斑爆發是一種正常現象,通過特定設備,每天都能觀察到5-10次,視規模大小,每次持續的時間為10至90分鐘。耀斑大規模爆發,可達太陽表面的1/1000面積,相當于地球陸地面積的10倍以上。為便于觀察和研究太陽的活動,科學家根據耀斑爆發時的X射線強度,將其分為A、B、C、M和X共5級,每級又分10檔。2003年、2005年和2006年都發生過強度在X17以上的大規模爆發。2006年以後,太陽活動趨于穩定。但觀測資料顯示,科學家在兩年前就觀察到,太陽表面出現了一個中等大小的“磁結”。這可能預示著新一輪太陽活動周期的到來。根據迄今的認識,人們將太陽活動周期定為11年,今明兩年是太陽的活躍期。

　　太陽耀斑大爆發是太陽活動加劇的一個象徵。每個太陽活動高峰期,一般會產生約10次X9級以上的大爆發。一般認為,太陽耀斑發生在太陽周圍的赤氣層內,也稱“色球爆發”。其主要觀測特徵是,太陽表面突然出現迅速亮起的“火炬”,持續僅幾分鐘到幾十分鐘。有人形象地形容這像太陽“打噴嚏”。不過,這次“噴嚏”有點大。美國宇航局記錄太陽耀斑強度的儀器最大強度為X20。1989年8月16日和2001年4月2日,其設備曾2次記錄下強度為X20的特大爆發,但這次大爆發的強度超過了其設備的最大功率,一些監測太陽活動的衛星上的測試設備都因超負而無法記錄。專家估計,這次太陽耀斑爆發的強度可能高達X28,是有記錄以來最強的,相當于地球上發生裏氏15級地震。美國國家海洋和大氣局監測宇宙氣候的衛星,也因X射線超過設備負荷而不能工作。

　　專家提醒,這次大爆發後產生的太陽高能粒子,正在以每秒2500公裏左右的速度接近地球。以往這些高能粒子流要2—4天才能接近地球,這次只要約17個小時。而高能粒子流的侵襲可能影響地球磁場,影響全球衛星定位係統、衛星廣播信號、供電和航空運輸安全。為減少這次太陽耀斑大爆發帶來的負面影響,許多國家正在採取應對措施。德國航空安全部門表示,自13日以來就發現雷達和短波通訊異常,他們已減少空中流量10%,並調整了飛越北極航班的航線;美國調低了電網功率,關閉部分衛星或改由地面操控。不過,此次太陽耀斑大爆發後產生的高能粒子流與地球是“擦肩而過”,不會正面衝撞,所以不會對人們的日常生活帶來太大影響。

　　針對地球將于2012年毀滅的“預言”,科學家們指出,最早做出“世界末日”預言的是瑪雅人。其預言說,太陽紀只有5個循環,此後地球就要毀滅。第五太陽紀始于公元前3113年,經過5125年的瑪雅大周期後,將在公元2012年12月22日前後結束。科學家發現,今年的太陽周期活動與根據瑪雅歷法算出的時間循環之間,可以找到一些關聯,但這僅與天文觀測有關,表明瑪雅人的確觀察到了太陽的一些活動。此外,《聖經》中也提到:我們將迎接充滿了火焰和硫磺石的宣判日的到來。而其說的日子是2012年12月21日。

　　可以設想,太陽耀斑對于那些預卜兇兆和不明科學的人極具吸引力。因為一次耀斑釋放的能量相當于上百億枚百噸級氫彈的爆炸。耀斑爆發時產生的大量高能粒子接近地球軌道時,會嚴重危及宇宙飛行器的安全;會嚴重影響短波通訊和廣播電視;當其接觸地球高層大氣時,會產生極光,並幹擾地球磁場引起磁暴;其對氣象和水文等也有不同程度的影響。但太陽耀斑不會導致地磁顛倒和天空著火等預言者描繪的“世界末日”。
